Qualitative Research Methods

A three-day training workshop on qualitative research methods was held at the Lecture Gallery at IUB campus since 18 to 21 June, 2013. The Centre for Social Science Research (CSSR) organized the workshop. The training was conducted by Dr.ShafiqRahman, Associate Professor, Chadron State College, Nebraska, USA. Dr.Rahman has extensive expertise on Qualitative and Quantitative methods. His ethnography of the Bangladeshi Diaspora in the United States was published in 2011 that received the 2011-2012 Asian/Pacific American Librarian Association’s honor award.

Forty two people, including faculty members, staffs and students participated in the training. The closing ceremony took place on Friday, 21 June, 2013 at the lecturer gallery 3. The Vice Chancellor of IUB, professor M. Omar Rahman,inaugurated the workshop. The director of the centre and the Dean of SLASS Dr. Zakir Hossain Raju delivered his vote of thanks and later awarded Certificates among the participants who successfully completed the workshop.

The training was funded by the Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) (CP2280) of University Grants Commission, Bangladesh. Ms.Sharmeen Ahmed, Senior Lecturer of SLASS and Alternate SPM of the centre supervised the event and it was organized by Ms.Sifat-E-Azam, Senior Lecturer of SLASS and Associate SPM of CSSR and Mr.Obydullah Al Marjuk, Lecturer, SLASS and Researcher of CSSR.
