Preservation of Endangered Languages of Bangladesh: Baseline Survey of the Lahra Community

The Centre for Social Science Research (CSSR) at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organized a Seminar on `Preservation of Endangered Languages of Bangladesh: Baseline Survey of the Lahra Community’ on Wednesday, 26 June, 2013 at its campus at Bashundhara, Dhaka.

Dr. Zakir Hossain Raju, Director, CSSR, and Dean, School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, inaugurated the seminar. A research team comprising Mr. Towhid Bin Muzaffar, Mr. Haronoozzaman and Dr. Talim Hossain, Assistant Professors of IUB shared their research progresses, who have been working on the topic funded by the centre.  After that the discussants of the seminar made valuable comments and suggestions for the researchers focusing different aspects on the topic. The distinguished members are Dr. H. K. Arefin, Professor, Department of Anthropology, University of Dhaka; Professor Mesbah Kamal, Department of History, University of Dhaka; Dr. Ainun Naher, Department of Anthropology, Jahangirnagar University; Dr. Akand Mustafa Kamal, Professor, Department of Anthropology, University of Rajshahi; and  Mr. Zahid Akter, Head & Assistant Professor, Department of English, East West University. The floor was open to the participants for discussion and question-answer after their speech. Faculty members from different departments of SLASS, IUB participated the seminar.
