The changing role of social media in Muslim countries

The social media is now omnipresent and having kaleidoscopic impact on the lifestyle and culture of Muslim countries in different parts of the world, visiting Professor Jamal Malik of the University of Erfurt (Germany) observed.

The distinguished professor was addressing a seminar of the Center for Social Science Research (CSSR) titled “The changing role of social media in Muslim countries” in IUB lecture gallery on the academic wing at IUB permanent campus at Bashundhara on October 1, 2013.

Vice Chancellor of IUB Professor M Omar Rahman, Dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (SLASS) and Director of CSSR Professor Zakir Hossain Raju, among others, addressed the seminar. Director of the Goethe Institute Ms Judith Mirschberger was present in the talk.

At Erfurt University Professor Malik is Head of the Department of Religious Studies. Professor Malik is visiting Bangladesh at the invitation of the Center for Social Science Research (CSSR) of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB).
