Ms. Katie Cierniak
Katherine (Katie) Cierniak is pleased to be affiliated with the Centre for Social Science Research (CSSR) at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) as she conducts her dissertation research in Dhaka. Ms. Cierniak is pursuing a PhD in Education Policy Studies, with a concentration in International and Comparative Education, at Indiana University Bloomington. She was awarded a Fulbright Student Research Grant (administered by the U.S. Department of State) to conduct her research on primary education for children in Dhaka’s slums. Her research will focus on the schooling opportunities available to children in one of the capital city’s slums, as well as how households navigate the options available to them and reach decisions about staying in or dropping out from school.
